According to the International Institute for Restorative Practices, the use of RP helps to reduce crime, violence, and bullying; improve human behavior; strengthen civil society; provide effective leadership; restore relationships; and repair harm.
RP serves as a two-fold approach to improving student behavior by applying methods that prevent rule infraction and intervene once the infraction occurs. Schools utilize RP as a way to respond to conflict strategically by allowing stakeholders to inclusively build relationships as opposed to leaders reacting punitively.
